Job Purpose:

The primary focus of this position is to mitigate the high degree of risk involved by effectively managing precious metal inventories and positions in volatile and uncertain markets for internal and external customers with full P/L responsibility for assigned metal positions.

Main Responsibilities:

Trading - Conducts business in compliance with local hedging procedures. Manages precious metals risk positions in compliance within approved trading limits. This position has P&L responsibility for the assigned metals traded.

Marketing – 

1. Establishes business relationships with new customers
2. Develop precious metal strategies for existing customers and coordinates the implementation. Assists customers with eh challenges of existing market conditions
3. Co-ordinates precious metals requirements of mutual customers and Umicore business centres
4. Source physical metal for Umicore’s production requirements

Operations (PTP and OTC) –

1. Records business activities in SAP (P63) including but not limited to purchases, sales transfers delivery orders and customer credits and confirms with the respective customers.
2. Requests customer Credit lines and ensures customer business activity is within the limits of the respective approved credit line
3. Authorises the release of precious metals from depositories and co-ordinates delivery
4. Approves daily payment as required
5. Negotiates short term contracts and submits approval

Internal Control - Conducts all business in compliance with the Umicore way, Umicore code of conduct, group policies and procedures, the standard order matrix, the local Authorization matrix as well as local policies and procedures.

Functional Requirements:

1. College degree (mathematics or Economics preferred) and a minimum of 15 years physical precious metals experience
2. Strong Mathematical skills
3. Thorough knowledge of precious metals and Financial markets
4. Complete knowledge of customers business and their niches in Precious metals
5. A thorough knowledge of SAP
6. Working knowledge of other job functions in the group
